Coldplay
Coldplay- Nothing Cold about Them
Based in Europe, their music has traveled to the point that everyone loves the songs that they have created. Who ever knew that four guys could come together to bring you some real in depth songs that speak truth and reaches out to how many feel? They were totally different, but you wouldn’t think that this band has anything not in common the way they perform and travel together.
Coldplay- The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship
While the name of the band changed, their friendship didn't. They had started out as Pectoralz, but when Chris and Jonny invited their friend from college who you know as Guy Berryman, they had changed their name to Starfish. It wasn't until 1997 that the last member, Will Champion, joined the group. He had chosen to rock to the drums, when the drums wasn't an instrument he knew how to play. You would never know this though when he plays at the concerts that thousands attend. The group became Coldplay; a name that was given to them from a guy whose band had used the name before.
The First Prize from a Lot of Teamwork
After Safety EP came out and they sold the copies, they were eventually persuaded to join Fierce Panda as the company who would put the label to the band that was creating some pretty awesome music at the time. It took them only four days to record their second album in 1999 titled Brothers and Sisters EP.
The guys were still in college as all this was going on. They gained much recognition on their college campus. While Fierce Panda was giving them what they needed, Coldplay felt that it was time to move on. That same year they joined with Parlophone who gave them a deal that hey would produce for them five albums. Their first record with Parlophone which made this their third record was titled The Blue Room.
The Milestone Years
As the public loved this album, it was time to move on and in 2001, they did just that. They created a second album and during the time of working on this album, they were awarded the Best Alternative Music Album for the Parachutes album in 2002. That same year they won that award, the band was touring as they had just released A Rush of Blood to the Head. Since then, the band has made much progress, releasing two other albums that you would know of which include: X and Y as well as Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Since then, they have been touring Latin America and doing extremely well as a band.
Did you know that...
- …Coldplay has a rule that they keep the band together.
- …Golden Poppy was one title they had thought about calling Yellow.
- …they almost had a fifth person in their band.
