Terius Youngdell Nash is better known as The Dream, and on his new single, he sure does come up with a dream like slice of sensual R’n'B pop. The Song, IV Play (the IV stands for “Four”, for those of you who skipped the Roman lessons) is a first single towards The Dream’s new album, which drops next week.

Vibe, R.I.P

Kendrick Lamar is releasing a video for the highlight track from his 2012 album, Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe. The video shows Kendrick, all dressed in white (!) for a funeral (!) that turns into a mad party.

The video ends with a mysterious message – Death to Molly. Weird!

New Day is coming

Alicia Keys is continuing her image changing journey with another slice of good girl gone bad attitude. New Day finds the soul queen in a street savvy mode, with not a single piano in sight. It’s a proper follow up to This Girl is on Fire and places Alicia as the most worthy heir to the crown of Mary J Blige’s Queen of Urban Soul

Carey me home

Mariah Carey joined forces with the rising R’n'B star, Miguel, for her best song in a very long time. #Beuatiful (What’s with the hashtag?!?!) is a delicate piece of soulful pop, with great guitar work and lush, lazy drum. We really dig the song, despite the fact that Mariah is trying to get all sexy on the video. Like Prince once said – act your age mama, not your shoe size.

Queens

Janelle Monae & Erykah Badu, Erykah Badu and Janelle Monae. What a match made in soul heaven. Two queens from two generations, collaborating on a fantastic piece of soulful goodness, called, sure enough, Q.U.E.E.N.

This song makes us so eager for Janelle’s new album, which is scheduled later this year. We are sure that 2013 is going to be her year, and she deserves every bit of it.

Black Celebration

They are one of the biggest bands in the world, over 30 years and still going strong. With a new album and a new world wide tour, the three members of Depeche Mode are still an extraordinary pop phenomenon, bringing to the masses a sound that manages to seamlessly blend pop with avant-garde.

Their latest album, Delta Machine  is no different. Again, the group manages to bring left field sounds and serve them in a way that suits a mainstream audience, thanks to the special talent of songwriter Martin L. Gore and the delivery of lead singer, Dave Gahan.

Here’s the second single from the album, Soothe My Soul. Download the entire album over at Bearshare.

The sabbatical is over, thank god!

Black Sabbath are Rock gods. Ozzy Osbourne, despite everything – the reality TV, the drugs, the alcohol, the ridicule, is still a charismatic, phenomenal singer. And no one would have imagined that in 2013, Black Sabbath will be back, more than 40 years after they were formed, sounding vital and alive, and simply great.

The new album is produced by the legendary Rick Rubin, who has a knack for bringing heroes from the past back to the future, but the fact that Black Sabbath pulled it off so triumphantly is a testament to, well, perhaps the existence of god..?

Iggy Hip Hop

All the way from down under comes Iggy Azalea. The Australian rapper looks like a hybrid of Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, and delivers this song which has already gathered a huge amount of buzz around the world. Is America ready to be taken by a white female rapper from Australia? All the signs indicate – yes.

When the Dogg turned into a Lion

Posted by DJ • April 27, 2013 at 09:21 AM

Snoop is one of the greatest rappers alive, no doubt. He first made his mark back in the 90′s as a leading gangsta rapper, with his chilling tales of crime, drug pushing and gun toting. Now forget about Snoop Dogg, and embrace the new, reincarnated Snoop Lion, a vendor of reggae, love, peace and ganja. Oh, that last bit is actually still the same.

Anyway, here’s No Guns Allowed, which sees Snoop takes a stance against the current guns and weapon laws in the US. It takes a lot of bravery for a former gangsta rapper to take such a stance – no doubt. And it’s great to see Snoop bridging the reggae and hip hop communities once again.

One love!

I am Will. You are Justin.

Will I Am is a busy guy. Which explains why it took him so long to get around and release his new solo album – 6 long years after the previous one.

Anyway, as always, Will.I.Am is not leaving any space for mistakes, and he is getting all the heavy guns for his solo effort too. #thatpower comes not only twitter-ready, it also features the teen sensation that is Justin Bieber. And check out the neat hologram effect in the video!
